The Aztec Diet

The Aztec people ate a lot of the chia seed. Now famous for sprouting in the shape of silly pets, the chia seed is a nutritional powerhouse. The Aztec Diet, based on the chia seed, can help you lose weight and reduce disease.

The Aztec Diet avoids modern fast foods that cause blood sugar swings and insulin dumps. Instead, the diet focuses on beans, corn, bulgar, quinoa, chia sees, turkey and fish. These low glycemic index foods will lessen cravings and let you lose weight in a safe and controlled manner.

Dr. Bob Arnot wrote The Aztec Diet as a way to build healthy eating habits. Foods are broken down into three groups, based on their carbohydrate content. Meals attempt to balance carb intake and nutritional content.

The first phase of the Aztec Diet introduces you to the chia seed. The chia seed has more omega-3 fatty acids than a similar serving of salmon, three times the iron of spinach, 15 times the magnesium of broccoli and six times the calcium of milk. You learn to make chia smoothies and get your body set for a new way of eating.

After two weeks of chia smoothies, phase two adds solid meals to the regime. Once you reach your goal weight, phase three gives you rules to live by for a lifetime of healthy eating and weight control. The book has recipes and how-to hints to keep you away from fast food and on the straight and narrow.

Dr. Arnot also recommends strenuous exercise, especially cardio and interval training. This, balanced with responsible Aztec eating, is his path to a healthy life. Have you tried the Aztec Diet? Click on the Comment button and share your knowledge.
